Historians maintain that the oldest ice skates are at least 5,000 years old. Many of these skates have been found in Russia and Scandinavia. Interestingly, many of the world’s top figure skaters come from Scandinavian or Nordic countries. That said, humans have been enjoying the sport of ice skating for centuries. If you’re an ice skating enthusiast, there’s no shortage of skating rinks in West Chicago to visit. This winter, hone your skills on the ice at these venues.

Seven Bridges Ice Arena

The Seven Bridges Ice Arena is a fun-filled venue offering a variety of skating programs. In particular, the Olympic and NHL-sized ice rinks provide amazing landscapes for all types of skating.

Looking to get started? If so, sign up for the adult program. Generally, the classes focus on those who’re new to the game or returning to the ice after many years. If, however, you already possess basic ice skating skills, the new “Moves in the Field” program may interest you. This program focuses on helping skaters further hone their skills. You’ll work on your carriage, athletic artistry, and agility.

Meanwhile, the “Power” program helps skaters develop more stamina, speed, and power on the ice. While you’re at it, don’t forget to have fun: sign up for public skating sessions and let your hair down in the rink!

Inwood Ice Arena

Inwood Ice Arena is part of the Inwood Athletic Club complex. It hosts a number of hockey and figure-skating events throughout the year. You’ll find skating programs for both beginners and skilled skaters here.

The skating school will only allow you to advance after you demonstrate mastery according to Ice Skating Institute (ISI) and United States Figure Skating (USFS) rules.

The arena is also home to the Inwood Skate School. If you’d rather enjoy the ice from the bleachers, you can catch your favorite skaters strutting their stuff on the ice during the Inwood Skate School Annual Ice Show.

All Seasons Ice Rinks

All Seasons Ice Rinks offers a safe and fun skating experience for beginners and skilled skaters. Want to increase your edge on the ice or perfect your routines? Sign up for any of these programs: basic skills, free skate, ice dancing, or synchronized skating. To further hone your skills, attend one of the freestyle practice sessions.

All in all, these skating rinks in West Chicago offer plenty of value for everyone. If you’d like to live near these exciting venues, consider making HighPoint Community Apartments your new home.
