Would you like to stop and smell the roses? If so, head to the famed Chicago Botanic Garden to discover 27 spectacular gardens that bloom throughout the year. Highlights include:
Krasberg Rose Garden
With over 5,000 flowers, it’s no wonder that the Krasberg Rose Garden is a visitor favorite. When in bloom, stop by in the morning when the flowers are at their most fragrant. One of the showstoppers is the Ingrid Bergman. These radiant red tea roses grow up to six feet tall and add elegance to any garden.
English Walled Garden
Designed by a renowned landscape architect, the English Walled Garden is an enchanting place where six unique garden rooms each evoke a different mood. Explore the Cottage Garden overflowing with fruits and vegetables or the Pergola Garden bursting with wisteria in shades of blue, purple, and silver.
Greenhouses at the Chicago Botanic Garden
Displaying both rare and edible plants, the greenhouses offer a respite from the cold during the winter months. In the Arid Greenhouse, visitors see dozens of colorful blooms, including the Ruby Red Crown-of-Thorns. Native to Madagascar, these flowers reach three feet by three feet. They may become extinct in the wild, and their stems “bleed” a white milky latex sap.
Adult Education Classes at the Chicago Botanic Garden
Along with the fabulous scenery, the garden also offers classes designed to engage the senses and explore a more personal relationship with nature. You can enhance your skills in photography, painting, cooking, and so much more.
