Chicago’s Lincoln Park Zoo is a favorite among Romeoville residents. While the zoo is currently closed to the public, they have built up their virtual programs so you can explore from home. Here are some of the virtual activities that will make our apartments in Romeoville feel just like your own personal safari.
Stay Tuned to the Zoo
Take a trip to Lincoln Park Zoo’s YouTube Channel to check out their Stay Tuned to the Zoo series. The zoo started the series this year as a way to highlight its attractions and educate people of all ages. You’ll find videos that feature specific exhibits, give behind-the-scenes looks at animal care, and explain interesting and important concepts of conservation. You’ll want to stay tuned every week — new videos upload every Tuesday and Thursday.
Meet New Arrivals
The Zoo’s blog is full of fascinating insights into the park, but some of the most fun posts are those that introduce new arrivals. These posts will let you get to know all the newcomers who will greet you once the park reopens. New arrivals are frequent, so you’ll always have something to look forward to. In January alone, the zoo has welcomed penguins, naked mole rats, and grey seals.
Attend Virtual Events
Thanks to live-streaming, the zoo’s event calendar is as packed as ever. There are virtual animal experiences nearly every day, featuring experts providing intimate meet-and-greets with animals and discussing intriguing topics. Keep your eyes peeled for other unique events, like live tours of the entire zoo and even virtual mealtime with some of your favorite animals.
Chicago’s Lincoln Park Zoo isn’t the only local attraction that you can enjoy from home. The American Writer’s Museum also offers a variety of virtual media for you to explore.
